Join the Leiden University Centre for Digital Humanities (LUCDH) for their next LUCDH lunchtime talk presented by Janessa Vleghert on Wednesday, 30 November 2022 at 12:00 – 13:00 (CEST). You can join both on campus as online.

Are you interested in digital humanities? Do you want to learn more about the different computer programmes and software you could work with and how they could be useful for your thesis topics? For example, here are the two types of computer-assisted analyses I conducted. My BA thesis’s objective was to shed some light on the ambiguities surrounding the authorship and classification of the Exeter Book Riddles. This part will focus on Lexos and the application of the programme to highlight the possibilities of (free) digital tools. The second part will be about my MA thesis, which focused on the cross-cultural (dis)similarities in visual language, specifically in American, Japanese, and Filipino comics. The data was collected using MAST, an annotation software, and the comics were annotated as part of the larger TINTIN Project corpus. I look forward to discussing the possibilities and potential obstacles of using digital tools together.
