Vacancy: Postdoctoral position in NLP for Historical Research (Copenhagen)
The Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), has announced an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) with a focus on multilingual historical texts from 1600 to 1900. The position is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years starting from 1 February 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team in the context of the DFF Sapere Aude project Racialized Motherhood. This team works to advance understanding of the diachronic development of gendered and racialized language in historical documents produced between 1600 to 1900.
For whom?
Applications from highly qualified candidates with a strong background in NLP and a keen interest in applying their expertise to collaborative historical research on Atlantic colonial history are welcomed.
The postdoc who gets this position will be based at the University of Copenhagen, but the project is a collaboration that also includes Erasmus University Rotterdam. Thus, the postdoc work location is somewhat flexible, and researchers based in the Netherlands are highly encouraged to apply.
