AlgoSoc International Conference 2025: The Future of Public Values in the Algorithmic Society
On 10 & 11 April 2025, AlgoSoc is organising the AlgoSoc International Conference 2025: The Future of Public Values in the Algorithmic Society. This two-day conference will be held in-person at Felix Meritis in Amsterdam.
With increasing datafication, extensive use of algorithms and increasingly sophisticated AI models, Automated Decision Systems (ADS) are now complementing and in part replacing human decision-making. While this may yield better decisions and more efficient services, both policymakers and academics have been pushing for ‘human-centric’ and value-sensitive ADS technology.
Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), the AlgoSoc research programme aspires to find out how to realise public values in the algorithmic society.
The AlgoSoc 2025 conference aims to re-center the debate on public values in AI, algorithms and their computational infrastructures from a primarily technological to a societal challenge.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is 30 September 2024. Registration will open on 2 December 2024.
More information on the programme, abstract submission and registration process can be found on the AlgoSoc 2025 event page.
AlgoSoc is a Dutch government funded collaboration between the universities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft, Utrecht and Tilburg, integrating expertise from law, computer science, the humanities and social sciences.
