This brand-new workshop ‘Rewriting the Assignment’ – Assessing writing in the age of GenAI is being organized by the Centre for Digital Humanities. Dr. Laura Koenders, educational consultant & trainer at Utrecht University, will share her unique perspective on the multi-layered topic of writing assessment in education now that students have wide-spread access to generative AI.

Generative AI is transforming not only what we learn but also how we learn and what is worth learning. As a result, it fundamentally reshapes how we assess student learning and the priorities we set for assessment. This is particularly evident in writing education. While the title of the workshop suggests a focus on individual assignments, the reality is that we must think on a program-wide scale to address assessment in the age of generative AI.

During this workshop, we will explore these shifts and collaboratively identify actionable changes to enhance the assessment strategies in your course programmes.
