ALGOPOL Knowledge Conference ‘Algorithms and Public Values: Towards a Better Understanding of Organizational Practices’
On Wednesday 12 March, the NWO project ALGOPOL will organize its final in-person knowledge conference ‘Algorithms and Public Values: Towards a Better Understanding of Organizational Practices’. The conference will take place in Utrecht (precise location TBA).
This conference will feature lectures on the practice of algorithmization in the public sector and workshops on algorithmic transparency, safeguarding public values in algorithmization, and connecting algorithms to the work of public professionals. The knowledge conference is aimed at both academics and practitioners interested in the use of algorithms in the public sector. Although the research focuses on the Dutch National Police, the lessons on algorithms in public organizations are broadly applicable.

Among the speakers are Mirko Tobias Schäfer (Data School Science Lead), and José van Dijck (Distinguished University Professor at Utrecht University and CDH Advisory board member).
