NRC article about the Babylab of the Institute for Language Sciences
In the linguistic labs of the Institute for Language Sciences (ILS), experiments are carried out on both adults and babies, employing methodologies such as eyetracking, EEG, and head turn preference. NRC recently published an article on the research of linguistics researcher Iris van der Wulp within the Babylab.
Van der Wulp is currently engaged in doctoral research on language acquisition and the potential connection between rhythm and language. By using EEG technology, infants wear a specialized cap on their heads to facilitate the monitoring of their brain activity. She intends to compare the results of the brain activity observed in infants with similar tests conducted on adults.
