The research project Semantics of Sustainability will organize a workshop on the development of state-of-the-art transformer language models for historical Dutch on Friday 9 December at the eScience Center in Amsterdam.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together researcher who have previous experience with and/or who are involved in training language models for contemporary or historical Dutch, to share experiences, discuss standards and best practices, and to profit from each other’s work.

The program of the workshop will be a mix of presentations, discussion and collective work on a strategy paper for the training of language models for (historical) Dutch. This is a closed workshop, but there is room for a limited number of additional attendees. The Open eScience project Semantics of Sustainability (2022-2024, project number NLESC.OEC.2021.020) is a collaboration between the eScience Center, the Utrecht University Center for Digital Humanities and the National Library The Hague. Lead application is Pim Huijnen (UU).
