This workshop will introduce you to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how it applies to research data. You will learn about available research data management tools and how they comply with privacy regulations. 

For any research project that handles personal data, you must make the privacy of the data subjects a primary concern. Grant proposals dealing with personal data must therefore clearly depict the technical and organisational measures that will be taken to safeguard the privacy of their data subjects. This serves to protect data subjects from an ethical standpoint and to protect researchers from a legal standpoint.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

• have a clearer understanding of how privacy regulations affect your research;
• know how you should protect the personal data you collect;
• know whom you can ask for help with difficult scenarios on this matter.
